Ordinary ice cleats require that Security Guards remove their ice cleats every time they transition in and out of doors. That's because of

Traditional ice cleats can be extremely slippery on metal steps and ladders. Some job sites, and especially Mall Security Guards, require frequently transitioning in and out of vehicles. Again, ordinary ice cleats must be removed before driving because
- aggressive spikes can penetrate the rubber cover on foot controls and could impede rapid transition between the pedals in an emergency;
- spikeless ice cleats with wound steel coils can be slippery depending upon the pedal design and material;
- Ice cleat straps can impede movement between pedals.
Transitional Traction Ice Cleats for Security Guards and Protective Services
All the recommended ice cleats with studs have Transitional Traction. Aggressive 1mm tungsten carbide studs minimally protrude just beyond the aggressive self-cleaning tread. Therefore, both the tread and the studs make contact with the surface.
You get excellent traction on ice, snow, deep snow, slush, and black ice. You can also safely walk on most indoor floors without damaging them of risking a slip and fall.
Gritted ice cleats are for special situations where Non-Sparking and non-conductivity are crucial. Gritted ice cleats are far less effective than studded ice cleats. Gritted ice cleats become far less effective as temperatures drop and ice becomes denser than at warmer temperatures.
